Greetings. I’m Dr. Nerita Hughes. I am the president here at Bay College. Today is a very special day. Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. We honor him in his fight for justice. We honor him in his nonviolent character. We also honor him today because he was the one that said, one day little Black girls and little Black boys will one day come together and we will be as one.
And so, we are in a day and age right now where we have federal mandates, we have ICE agents, and we have all the chaos that’s going on in the world. And so, can we take a moment just to honor him today? And I just want to say, “Happy birthday, Dr. King, and thank you. Thank you for your fight for justice. Thank you for your fight for freedom.” And again, everyone, take time to think through what can you do to make this world a better place?
Have a good day.
