Six area residents have earned bachelor’s degrees from Lake Superior State University (LSSU). Graduates achieved their degrees through LSSU's Escanaba/Iron Mountain Regional Center which offers baccalaureate degree programs for students on Bay College campuses. Graduates attended LSSU’s commencement ceremony on May 2 on the main campus in Sault Ste. Marie.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts Teaching (Grade Band 5-12) is Isabella Norden of Escanaba.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Management is Rayna Silverstein of Norway.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Management is Monica Chartier of Iron Mountain.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting-finance minor is Trever Englund of Escanaba.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Teacher Education are Reagan Erickson of Iron Mountain and Robin Schafer of Gladstone. Both graduates earned concentrations in grades PreK-3.
Norden and Schafer graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors, earning a 3.90-4.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Erickson and Silverstein graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors, earning a 3.70-3.89 cumulative GPA. Chartier graduated with Cum Laude honors, earning a 3.50-3.69 cumulative GPA.
Norden stated, “Completing my degree through the Regional Center allowed me to stay local while pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher. Staying close to home saved me a significant amount of money and made earning my degree more accessible. I am especially grateful for Dr. Chad Barbour, whose guidance and support had a meaningful impact on my experience and helped prepare me for my career in education.”
Students completed their coursework through LSSU’s Escanaba/Iron Mountain Regional Centers, in partnership with Bay College, allowing students to pursue LSSU bachelor’s degrees on Bay College campuses.
