Foundation Scholarships

Application Deadline: March 15

Bay College awards nearly 300 scholarships to incoming and returning students that meet specified donor criteria. The scholarship program at Bay College is supported by contributions from organizations, businesses and individuals in the community via the Bay College Foundation that may help you achieve your educational goals. Scholarships are sponsored by friends of the College including staff, faculty, businesses, community organizations, and individuals.

Board of Trustees Scholarships

Application Deadline: March 1

To apply for a Board of Trustees Scholarship students must be a high school senior (Bay College login required). Students attending Bay College from our service area who meet specific criteria are eligible to apply for the Board Elite Scholarships and/or the Board of Trustees Scholarships. The service area is defined as: Crystal Falls/Forest Park, Escanaba, Gladstone, Rapid River, Bark-River Harris, Big Bay de Noc, Hannahville/Nah Tah Wahsh, North Central, Mid-Peninsula, Stephenson, Carney-Nadeau, North Dickinson, Norway, Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Manistique, and other recognized learning systems within Delta/Dickinson Counties. Each scholarship is renewable for a second year provided that student maintains a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA at Bay College.

Board Elite Scholarship

The Board Elite Scholarships cover full tuition and fees, as well as course required text books for the fall and winter semesters immediately following high school graduation and are renewable for a 2nd year (fall and winter semesters) provided required criteria is maintained.

Board of Trustees Scholarship

The Board Elite Scholarships cover full tuition and fees, as well as course required text books for the fall and winter semesters immediately following high school graduation and are renewable for a 2nd year (fall and winter semesters) provided required criteria is maintained.

Eligibility Requirements for Board Elite and Board of Trustees Scholarships
  • Graduating seniors from a Bay College service area (described above) with a cumulative high school GPA of at least a 3.8.
  • Student must be accepted to Bay College two weeks prior to the deadline.
  • Student must begin attendance to Bay College no later than the first fall semester following high school graduation and maintain full-time (12 credits or more) enrollment in Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Attain a 2.5 GPA minimum at Bay College fall semester to receive the full award winter semester.
Application Steps for Board Elite and Board of Trustees Scholarships
  1. Accepted students who meet the eligibility requirements will be sent a letter by the President of Bay College inviting them to complete the Board of Trustees scholarship application process.
  2. Complete the online scholarship application and submit by March 1. The application consists of two essays, two reference letters, and current high school transcript (for accurate GPA).
  3. Students will be notified of the award in late March.

Leadership Scholarships

Application Deadline: April 15

To apply for for a Leadership Scholarship students must be a high school senior (Bay College login required). Bay College offers six $2,500.00 Leadership Scholarships annually to incoming high school graduates. Students will be judged on their leadership experience in high school, community involvement, academic achievement, and expression of leadership. All incoming students who have graduated from high school over the past year and attending Bay College the following fall with a high school GPA of 3.0 or greater are eligible to apply. Scholarships are available for tuition and fees, paid over two semesters ($1,250.00 fall and $1,250.00 winter) in year one. Leadership Scholarships are made possible by gifts to the Bay College Foundation from Greg and Linda Yagodzinski.

  3. Students will be notified of the award in late April.

Outside Scholarships

Many individuals and organizations, both locally and nationally, provide scholarship opportunities for college students. You should be mindful of the opportunities and watch for notices that are posted on the College website, on Channel 20, and in the Student News and other publications. Applications for these awards are made available through the College Advancement Office.
