An Introduction to Bay College

New Student Orientation is designed to introduce students to Bay College and its services. The information provided is vital to success as a student and therefore is suggested as part of the Bay College admissions process for students who are new to college, who are transitioning from Dual Enrollment to an undergraduate college student, and 5th year Early Middle College students. Students who are returning to Bay College or who have college experience elsewhere are encouraged, but not required, to complete orientation.

What to expect:

  • Get familiar with Bay College: Dive into information sessions on important topics like student life, support services, and more!
  • Explore campus: Knowing your surroundings is just the beginning. Campus tours will be scheduled throughout the day
  • Navigate your path and connect with Bay College staff: Chat with academic advisors, double check your class schedule, and meet your professors.
  • Get ready for the first day of classes: Find your classes, get your Student ID, and purchase your textbooks
  • Discover campus resources: Know what services exist, where to go, and how to use them.
  • Have some fun! Social events are scheduled throughout the day too.
  • Feed your brain: Lunch will be provided as well

New student orientation is a one-day, in-person event typically held the week before the classes starts. There is a New Student Online Orientation as well for students who are unable to attend the in-person event. The New Student Online Orientation is not to be confused with the in-person orientation or the Online Learning Orientation (OLO) as these orientations are different. OLO is for students enrolled in online or hybrid courses. New Student Online Orientation is an option for those students who cannot attend in-person and will be posted to their dashboard in Blackboard.

Students who have completed an application and been accepted to the College will be invited to attend new student orientation in person and online through our Blackboard learning system. Invitations are sent early to mid-June for the fall semester and mid-November for winter semester.
