Management Skills for New Managers

News

Bay College West Campus is offering a non-credit course on Management Skills for New Managers.  Most new managers have the technical skills to succeed, but what they most often lack are the skills of managing, motivating and developing their employees. This course is organized around five workshops: What is a Manager’s Role, Team Development and Empowerment, Running Effective Meetings, Dealing with Conflict and Performance Problems and Employees Law 101. This course will be offered on January 17, 24, 31 and February 7 and 14 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Bay College West Campus in Iron Mountain.  The program cost is $347.

There are two facilitators for the course, Cheryl Gelazuz and Cole Smith. Gelazuz is a recently- retired Department of Defense director with 40+ years of supervision/management experience, as well as manpower management, performance assessment and organizational support expertise. Smith graduated from Michigan Tech in 2014, is employed at Systems Control in human resources and has been instrumental in supporting recruiting, labor/employee relations, safety, training and compliance.
