Bay College Announces Contest to Discover Next Graduation Commencement Speaker

Bay College is excited to announce a contest to discover the commencement speaker for this year’s graduation ceremony.

Students are asked to write a speech to deliver at Bay College’s 2019 graduation commencement on May 11. All speeches should be between five and six minutes long when read aloud and should specifically address new Bay College graduates. It is also expected that all speeches will be considerate and responsive to the sensitivities of general audiences.

Finalists will deliver their speeches to a judging panel at 1 PM on Friday, April 12. The winner will be recognized at the Student Awards Dinner on the evening of April 23 at the College and receive $100.00. The second-place winner will receive $50.00. All other entrants who do not place will receive a $5.00 Café Bay gift card just for submitting a speech for consideration.

To enter, a student must submit his or her speech in document form by Friday, March 29, Email Renee%20Strom, Arts and Letters faculty member. Each entry must include the student’s full name, contact email, and telephone number. All entrants must be eligible to graduate by Summer 2019, have applied for graduation, and be planning to participate in commencement.
