On Saturday, April 13, 2019 Adriana Luzi received the 2019 MiAEYC Student Leadership Award.  The Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children selects one student each year who, through his/her academic record and professional involvement, indicate strong leadership skills in the field of early childhood education or child development.

Adriana is an active member and leader in the Bay College Early Childhood Educator’s Club, the Campus Activities Board and TRIO. She works with each of these groups to better enhance student involvement. Her immediate goal is to achieve her Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood. Her long-term goal is to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and become a lead teacher in her own classroom.

Two of the comments from Adriana’s letters of support included:

“Adriana exemplifies academic diligence in her coursework and a strong work ethic. She willingly assists others and serves as a peer mentor. Adriana has a strong personal commitment to her education and exhibits a high level of professionalism.”

“Adriana is the true definition of a servant leader. She is patient, empathetic, resourceful, insightful and motivated. Adriana’s dedication to service and her high level of empathy have lifted many of our students out of self-perceived helpless situations. She is always willing to sacrifice her own time to help others.”

Bay College and the Early Childhood Education Program wish to congratulate Adriana for her award and thank her for her model of excellence in leadership on campus.
