Bay College Donates Medical Supplies to Local Healthcare Providers

Currently, the Upper Peninsula is preparing for equipment shortages as hospitals continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to help with these potential shortages, Bay College has donated 150 boxes of gloves, 15 boxes of N95 masks, and 8 cases of gowns between OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group located in Escanaba, MI and Dickinson County Healthcare System located in Iron Mountain, MI.

“We have excess classroom medical supplies now that our students have gone home and are learning remotely and virtually. This has allowed us to donate these extra supplies to our local, rural hospitals. As a community college, it is our obligation to serve the people who support our school in any time of need or crisis," shared Mitch Campbell, RN, Dean of Allied Health.

“Our healthcare providers provide help and hope when we are at our most vulnerable. Our nurses, physicians, and other clinicians make sure that when you walk through our doors, you will get the best available care,” Campbell shared. The college is also looking to assist in providing any medical training needs to lay people that would benefit healthcare providers during this time of crisis.
