Bay College Offers 24-Hour New Miner and 8-Hour Virtual Refresher Training

Bay College Training and Development will be offering a 24-Hour New Miner and an 8-Hour Training in partnership with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). The three-day “New Miner” training covers all aspects of the initial training requirements for owners and operators under 30 CFR Part 48 & 46. The objective is to train new and inexperienced miners on safety and health hazards, employee rights and responsibilities, and job-related safety procedures. The 8-hour Refresher training will be held on the 3rd day of the New Miner training and covers the annual training requirements for owners and operators under 30 CFR parts 46 & 48. These trainings satisfy the MSHA class room requirements; however, companies training under Part 46 must have an approved training plan.

The MSHA 24-Hour New Miner training will be offered on March 8, 9, and 10 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The MSHA 8-Hour Refresher training will be held on March 10 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Registration is limited to 15 participants and pre-registration is required. All participants must have an email address, computer with a camera/microphone, and sufficient internet to stream videos. Bay College will provide a computer lab for those unable to meet the technology requirements. The cost of the 24-Hour New Miner training is $189.00 and the 8-Hour Refresher is $59.00.
