The walking trail at Bay College’s West Campus is now a reality. The trail, which utilizes 15 acres of property behind the campus, provides a great opportunity for exercise, wellness, along with the opportunity for outdoor learning.  The trail has been officially named the “Bay College West Environmental Education Trail”.

Assisting to make the completion of this 1-mile trail a reality was a financial donation from the BOSS Snowplow Annual Giving Project.  The financial donation, in addition to a Trail Project Volunteer Day put on by BOSS Snowplow, allowed for the addition of signage, boardwalks, and a laying of woodchips over portions of the trail.

To help celebrate the opening of the trail and show gratitude for the support from BOSS Snowplow, the West Campus will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 18th, 2023 at 12:00 pm CT. Donuts and cider will be provided for those that attend the event.

Pat Bazan, Building Maintenance Manager at Bay College West Campus stated that, “This trail stands to be a great addition to the community.  Also, we are happy to provide this opportunity to the community with help from Boss Snowplow, Champion Concrete, Derick Kirschner at UP Forest Innovations, Moyer Excavating, and the Dickinson County Conservation District.  Many thanks to all of these businesses for their time and support”.

The walking trail is open for walking year-round and allows for snowshoeing in the winter months.  Parking for the trail is available for the general public in the West Campus parking lot, with the entrance to the trail being on the south side of the campus.
