Bay College Hosts Free Holiday Concert and Opportunities to Give

Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with festive cheer and heartwarming generosity as Bay College and the Escanaba City Band join forces on Tuesday, November 28 at 7:00 pm ET in the Besse Theater. This free holiday concert promises to be a magical experience as the Escanaba City Band dazzles the audience with a full-length Christmas Concert. In addition, several Bay College Student Clubs and Staff will be coordinating a variety of charitable efforts to ensure those in need have a brighter and warmer holiday season.

Doors will be open at 6:30 pm ET.

The community can show their support by making a monetary donation or bringing an item deemed “in need” by the organization itself. Donations are welcomed, however are not required to attend the concert. Bay College is proud to have the following Bay Student Clubs and participating Bay College employees who initiated charitable efforts on campus this holiday season. Charitable causes include:

Silent Night Auction, coordinated by TRIO Student Support Services. The community can show their support by bidding on items such as artwork, gift baskets, baked goods, and more-- which were donated by staff, faculty, and students. The profits from this Silent Auction will provide opportunities for the TRIO SSS team to open more events and College Transfer Trips to the entire student body at Bay College. Bay College Food Pantry, TRIO Student Support Services will be accepting non-perishable donations for the Bay College Food Pantry. The pantry helps students who are dealing with food insecurity. For more information, please email trio_FROM_BAY_COLLEGE.

Operation Christmas Smile, supported by the Student Nurses Association and EMT/Paramedic Club as part of their holiday service project. Operation Christmas Smile is an organization that delivers Christmas gifts to families in need throughout Delta County. Items for Veterans at the D.J. Jacobetti Center in Marquette, also supported by the Student Nurses Association and EMT/Paramedic Club. For a list of needed items, please contact Amy Anderson at amy.anderson_FROM_BAY_COLLEGE.

Warm Coats for Warm Hearts, supported by the Business Professionals of America Association and Lake Superior State University students. Collecting gently used or new coats and winter gear like hats, gloves, and snow pants. Donations will be given to the Tri-County Safe Harbor, Salvation Army, Sandhill Low Income Housing, and the Child Advocacy Center. Unable to attend the concert? Collection Boxes will also be located off-campus from November 21 through December 5 at: Ashley Furniture – Escanaba, Pat’s IGA – Gladstone, and Elmer’s County Market – Escanaba. Christmas Drive with the Salvation Army, coordinated by Joseph Mold. Monetary, canned food donations, or new toys will be accepted at this event to assist the Escanaba area Salvation Army Christmas Drive. Collection sites off-campus are also happening throughout the community for the Salvation Army that include the Red Kettle Campaign and the TV-6 Canathon. New coats of all sizes and toys can be donated to the Escanaba or Iron Mountain Salvation Army offices.
