Bay College West Campus Offers Free Employability Support
News
Kellie Sexton, Project Manager at Lake Shore System’s headquartered in Kingsford, has organized an on-site employability support program at Bay West College Campus (Bay West). This support includes the following services: interview coaching, resume writing (critiquing and proofing), career closet direction/advice, and support on filling out job applications. This support will be completely cost- free to students and community members. She will be at Bay West on Fridays throughout the school year from noon to 2:00 p.m. CST for drop-ins. All other appointments must be made twenty four hours in advance. Laura Moloney, Director of Student Services at Bay West shared, “This is an amazing tool for our students here at Bay College and the community to use. We are very happy to have the opportunity to help prepare them for job interviews such as helping them pick out clothes from our career closet and proofing their resume.”
The concept for this program was promoted by one of Sexton’s Human Services classes where volunteering with an agency is required. “I am optimistic this program will assist in making the process less stressful for those who are searching for a new career. It also provides students and community members with more confidence. A big part of being successful is being prepared,” said Sexton.
