Bay/LSSU BPA student collecting coats at the Student Services Desk at Bay College

The Bay College and LSSU Regional Chapter of Business Professionals of America annual “Warm Coats for Warm Hearts” campaign collects coats for those in need in Delta County.  This student driven campaign runs until Monday, December 5th.  Collection boxes are located throughout Delta County at the participating businesses: Elmer’s County Market, Pat’s Foods IGA (Gladstone), Culver’s (Escanaba), Ashley Furniture Homestore (Escanaba), 5 Corners Market, and on the Bay College Escanaba Campus in the HUB during business hours.

“We had an amazing first week of our campaign, our storage room is filling up rather quickly! We can’t thank our amazing community enough for the outpouring support that we’re continuing to receive, we’re excited to see what this last week will bring.” says Autumn Morgan, Bay College student pursuing an Associates in Social Science and BPA member.  “BPA is a national student organization that’s based on three pillars: community service, leadership, and developing workplace skills.”

After December 5th, these coats will be distributed to the Tri-County Safe Harbor, Salvation Army, and low-income families at Sand Hill Townhouses.  Any size coat, or other winter gear (scarves, gloves, hats, snow pants), is welcome, from infant to adult.  While new items are preferred, lightly used items are appreciated. Morgan reports they’ve been getting a wide variety of adult coats, and have noticed a need for more infant to youth gear for the disbursement.
