Bay College/LSSU BPA Host Annual “Chain of Love” Fundraiser

The Bay College BPA/LSSU students are at it again with another “Chain of Love” fundraiser, raising money for the Local Area 1 Special Olympics.

The Bay College and LSSU Regional Center chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) announces its annual “Chain of Love” fundraiser which raises money for the Local Area 1 Special Olympics. This fundraiser will run for one week: January 29 through February 1. Bay College student volunteers will be accepting donations in the main entrance of the HUB on the Escanaba campus from 10am until 3pm ET.

The concept behind the “Chain of Love” fundraiser is that every dollar donated creates a link on the chain. The students invite each donator to write the name of a loved one they have in mind on their link and add it to the chain. As a result, they are making a long chain of love. “I have seen firsthand just how important these Special Olympics are to these athletes, and am blessed to have the opportunity to help them raise funds so that they can continue to have these experiences,” says Griffin Johnson, President of BPA, Co-Champion of “Chain of Love,” and studying Business Management & Administration at Lake Superior State University.

The proceeds from this event help fund the costs associated with the Local Area 1 Special Olympics program. These costs include the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and travel for all athletes. No athlete is required to pay because this organization wants them to be able to focus solely on having fun. This program is completely self-funded, which means they do not receive any federal funding. Therefore, fundraisers such as the “Chain of Love” are very important for this significant program to continue functioning and thriving.
