Bay College and Bay Mills Partner to Expand CIS Bachelor Degree Options for Students

News

President Duane Bedell of Bay Mills Community College (BMCC) of Brimley, Michigan and President Dr. Laura Coleman of Bay College have signed two articulation agreements between the Colleges to expand Computer Programs options for students.

The Bay College programs involved are the Computer Information Systems (CIS): Programming and User Support and the Computer Network Systems and Security Degree.  These degrees represent two sides of the IT world as one deals in software and the other in infrastructure.  That does not make them as different as one might think.  According to Karl Linderoth, Bay College CNSS Instructor, “both programs focus on network administration and cybersecurity aspects of IT.  Students learn hands-on skills to configure servers, routers, and to secure all aspects of a modern network.”

These characteristics created a natural fit to Bay Mills Community College’s new Computer Information Systems bachelor’s degree.  According to President Bedell, that degree was designed to be a jack-of-all trades program that provides a solid background in programming and infrastructure to support the modern computer industry.
