Scholarships Available for Skills Training at Bay College

News

Bay College is excited to announce that seven of its short-term training and certificate programs are eligible for funding through the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship. This new career training scholarship is designed to help people gain skills needed to prepare for in-demand jobs.

Eligible applicants may qualify to receive up to $4,000 over two years to attend one of Bay’s eligible career training programs. These training programs were selected to ensure students receive training and skills that will ultimately lead to in-demand jobs with high-paying wages. The eligible career training programs selected at Bay are Nurse Aide, EMT, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Dental Assisting, Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Coding and Billing, and Massage Therapy.

“The Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship is a great opportunity for students to pursue their dreams and reach their goals,” said Renee Lundberg, Manager of Workforce Training & Business Development at Bay College - Escanaba. “Bay College is excited to be working toward the state's goal of having 60% of adults with an industry-recognized skill certificate or degree by 2030.”

To be eligible for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship, applicants must be a resident of Michigan, graduated from a Michigan high school, or achieved an equivalency certificate in 2023 or after, and must not have earned an associate or bachelor’s degree.  The skills scholarship offers another pathway to the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, providing students with financial assistance to attend an eligible Michigan college or university.
